Two SHOOTINGS in South Africa leave at least 27 dead and dozens injured.

South Africa remains on alert after two separate shootings occurred overnight and early Sunday morning, leaving at least 27 people dead and another 26 injured, according to police authorities.

The first attack occurred on Saturday night at an establishment in the town of Wedela, southwest of Johannesburg. According to South African police, a group of armed men arrived at the location and opened fire on people who were inside and outside the establishment.

The first attack left 17 people dead, including 13 men and four women. Another 15 people were injured and taken to medical facilities for treatment.

Authorities said the attackers were carrying firearms, including AK-47 rifles and handguns. After the attack, the suspects fled the scene in vehicles that were later found burned.

Police launched a search for those responsible. At the time of the latest reports, no arrests had been announced in connection with the attack.

SECOND ATTACK NEAR CAPE TOWN

Hours later, a second shooting took place in the town of Lwandle, near Cape Town.

According to authorities, armed men entered an establishment during the early hours of the morning where several people were present and began shooting at those inside.

The attack left 10 people dead and 11 injured. Five of the victims died at the scene, while another five died later after being taken to medical facilities for treatment.

Investigators deployed specialized teams to identify and locate those responsible. As with the first attack, no arrests had been announced in the latest reports.

INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

South African authorities are continuing their investigations to determine exactly what motivated both attacks and whether there is any connection between them.

Investigators are also examining possible links to criminal networks and local conflicts, although authorities have not yet publicly established a definitive motive.

The two attacks occurred just days after another shooting near Durban, where 11 people were killed during an attack on a gathering inside a home.

The series of incidents has once again drawn international attention to the problem of gun violence in South Africa.

AUTHORITIES SEARCH FOR THOSE RESPONSIBLE

Police continue to gather evidence and seek information that could help identify the suspects.

Specialized officers and security personnel were deployed in the Wedela area following the attack. Authorities are also working to reconstruct what happened and determine how the attack unfolded.

As the investigations continue, affected families and communities are waiting for answers about the circumstances that led to the deaths of so many people within a matter of hours.

Authorities have reiterated that the search for those responsible remains ongoing and that any new information will be incorporated into the investigations.
