Flydubai Flight makes emergency in Saudi Arabia after incident between Pilots.

A Flydubai commercial flight traveling from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Tel Aviv, Israel, was forced to make an emergency landing Wednesday in the Saudi Arabian city of Tabuk after a serious incident occurred inside the cockpit.

The aircraft, identified as Flight FZ1073, was carrying approximately 150 passengers, according to initial reports. The plane landed safely at Tabuk Airport, and the airline confirmed that all passengers were safe and accounted for.

INCIDENT INSIDE THE COCKPIT

According to preliminary information, a physical confrontation occurred between the two pilots while the aircraft was in flight.

Israeli authorities later reported that one of the pilots allegedly attacked the other with a knife. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the incident may have represented an attempt to take control of the aircraft and cause a tragedy.

However, authorities are still investigating exactly what happened and what caused the confrontation.

Flydubai confirmed that an “incident” occurred during the flight and said members of the crew were able to secure the aircraft before diverting it to Tabuk.

THE AIRCRAFT CHANGED COURSE

During the flight, the aircraft transmitted emergency signals. Public flight-tracking data also showed a significant change in altitude over a short period before the aircraft changed course and headed toward Saudi Arabia.

The plane eventually landed in Tabuk, in northwestern Saudi Arabia.

The situation initially caused concern in Israel over the possibility that the aircraft was being hijacked. Israeli authorities reportedly scrambled military aircraft while they attempted to determine the nature of the incident.

It was later reported that the situation was under control.

BOTH PILOTS WERE INJURED

Saudi authorities in Tabuk reported that both pilots were injured and taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

The passengers remained under security measures while Saudi authorities and other agencies involved began investigating what had happened.

Some passengers reportedly described moments of intense tension inside the aircraft and said they heard shouting coming from the front of the plane.

INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Israeli officials have said they are investigating whether the incident could have been an attempted terrorist attack. However, this remains part of the investigation, and there has been no definitive conclusion regarding the motive.

Different reports have also circulated regarding the pilots’ nationalities and their possible intentions. Authorities have not yet publicly confirmed all of these details.
